Southern University Alumni Chapter Jackson, MS

Purpose

This chapter governs themselves in line with the constitution of the National SU Alumni Federation, but as a separate entity with specific by-laws for the chapter. The following are the main purposes of this chapter:

 

1. Encourage a friendly collegial and supportive sprit among the alumni.
2. Promote the goals of the University, primarily through leadership coordination, student recruitments and financial contributions.
3. Encourage a friendly and supportive membership sprit between the Jackson Metro Alumni Chapter and SU National Alumni Federation, primarily through leadership coordination, and support of its elections, goals, and conferences.
4. Identify and recruit potential students for Southern University.
5. Sponsor/support cultural, social, sports, and program activities with the specific intent of increasing the university’s positive exposure in the central Mississippi area.
6. Maintain a working, and supportive relationship with other alumni organizations.
7. Promote/support worthwhile community organizations and projects.
8. Identify and promote employment opportunities and upward mobility.
